Tesla FSD Beta 11.3 Video Series April 19, 2023March 8, 2023 by dburkland Here is a complete list of all of my drive videos that I have recorded with FSD Beta 11.3.x: Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – North Metro Test Loop (Zero Disengagements) This video contains footage recorded on April 10th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.6 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to my parents’ house (Coon Rapids, MN). Since the 37th Ave NE construction project started earlier this week, I adjusted the beginning of the route to navigate around this particular section of road. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – Work Test LoopThis video contains footage recorded on the morning of April 10th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.6 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to my company’s office (Edina, MN). Similar to what I’ve experienced w/ previous v11.3 builds, I continue to experience disengagements when traversing the intersection of 37th Ave NE & Central Ave NE. This has been a regression I first noticed with 10.69.25.x and something that was completely fixed as of 10.69.3. I previously did this same drive with 11.3.1 (see below) so you can can directly the two builds. While v11.3.6 has been solid for me, I continue to believe that v11.3.1 was the best 11.3 build so far.Previous drive w/ 11.3.1: https://youtu.be/ZR6IMWl7ip8 Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – Chowen Ave UPL Torture TestThis video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of April 9th, 2022 of FSD Beta 11.3.6 taking an unprotected left (UPL) turn onto Chowen Ave S from highway MN-13 S. I previously attempted this test w/ FSD Beta 10.69.1.1 (see link below). Aside from the initial lane selection confusion (after successfully completing the turn) FSD does a solid job handling oncoming traffic & navigating this tricky unprotected left turn.Previous Test w/ 10.69.1.1: https://youtu.be/CcRPvV6sswk Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – Drive To Easter Brunch (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the morning of April 9th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.6 driving me from St Anthony Park in St. Paul, MN to Easter Brunch in the North Metro. This was yet another smooth, zero disengagement drive where we experienced only two interventions. During the drive we also recognized a confirmed improvement new with v11.3.6 Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – Roundabout Torture TestThis video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of April 9th, 2023 where I put FSD Beta 11.3.6 through a roundabout torture test that we previously tried w/ 11.3.2 (See here: https://youtu.be/8eqG8tUPVCw). The pair of roundabouts are located adjacent to a busy Walmart in Roseville, MN and I decided to test during the late afternoon (on Easter Sunday) to ensure other vehicle & VRU traffic would be present. During the torture test, I traverse the pair of roundabouts a total of 7 times, 4 times from west to east and 3 times east to west. I decided to revamp my pass / fail criteria so that it now includes lane selection. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – St Anthony Park Test Loop (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the morning of April 9th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.6 driving me from my house in NE Minneapolis to St Anthony Park in St. Paul, MN. Aside from the usual areas where bad map data results in speed limit interventions, this was a fairly easy zero disengagement drive for FSD Beta. I understand other YouTubers have had some poor results with 11.3.6 so far but for me that is not the case. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – Ice Cream Test Loop (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the evening of April 8th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.6 driving me from my house in NE Minneapolis to Culvers in New Brighton, MN. Since this route is short yet tricky at night, I also included footage of the return trip as well. Due to the lack of lighting in certain spots, visibility was poor at times yet FSD Beta did a great job navigating through it without being too hesitant. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.6 – Minneapolis First ImpressionsThis video contains footage from a route I came up with this evening that is very similar to the first half of my work test loop. Aside from the early disengagement due to the continued struggle w/ the intersection of 37th Ave NE & Central Ave NE, the drive was fairly uneventful and I mean that in a good way. Along the way, I recognized the following improvement(s) as well as regression(s):– Confirmed Improvement: FSD v11.3.x No Longer Moves To The Right Before Initiating UPL Turn Onto 36th Ave NE– Possible Regression: Additional Hesitancy & Bad Path Planning When Turning Right Onto I-94E On-Ramp (off of Dowling Ave N)After four drives w/ v11.3.6 my initial impression is that it is is similar to v11.3.4 and seems a bit more confident with UPL turns. With that said, I need some additional seat time with v11.3.6 before saying that’s the case for sure. I plan to record 2-3 more drives tomorrow so stay tuned for more FSD Beta content! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – West Metro Torture Test (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of April 5th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me through a tough route that connects Edina, MN to Eden Prairie, MN. During this drive, FSD Beta v11.3.4 does a great job navigating 3 tough roundabouts and aces lane selection going into the multi-lane roundabouts (2 of the 3). While I feel like v11.3.4 is not as confident as 11.3.1, it is still better than any 10.69.25.x build and my 2nd favorite 11.3.x build overall. v11.3.6 is downloading to my car as I write this so more to come tonight! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Drive Home From Target (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the evening of April 4th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me from Target in Roseville, MN to my house in NE Minneapolis. This was yet another zero disengagement drive with FSD where we only encountered a few interventions, most of which were a result of old / stale map data (speed limit-related changes). Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Errand Run To Target (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the evening of April 4th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me from Costco in Maplewood, MN to Target in Roseville, MN. Aside from a single intervention to adjust the max speed limit on the on-ramp, this was pretty close to being a perfect drive from FSD Beta v11.3.4! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Costco Maplewood Test LoopThis video contains footage recorded on the evening of April 4th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me from my gym in St. Paul to Costco in Maplewood, MN. FSD does a commendable job overall of handling downtown St Paul however ends up having some issues with lane selection on the highway which results in several disengagements. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Work Test Loop (Downtown Edition)This video contains footage recorded on the morning of April 4th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to my company’s office (Edina, MN). Unlike my previous Work Test Loop videos, I decided to try a new route for this video based on feedback I received from several viewers who wanted to see more drives through downtown Minneapolis. The intersection of 37th Ave NE & Central Ave NE continues to cause issues for FSD Beta v11.3.x and results in a disengagement within the first 2 minutes of this drive. Overall the drive went fairly and I continue to believe 11.3.4 is noticeably better in almost every way than 11.3.3 (and may be on par now with 11.3.2). Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Highland Park After SnowstormThis video contains footage recorded on the evening of April 1st, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to a friend’s place in Highland Park (St. Paul). Minus the one disengagement at the end of the drive due to a poorly plowed portion of road, FSD did a fantastic job handling the tricky conditions (left over from the previous night’s blizzard). Fingers crossed this is one of the last drives of the year where we have to worry about snow and potholes! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – St. Paul Torture Test (Fail)This video contains footage recorded on the evening of March 31st, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me through a torture test I came up with based on some recent lane selection issues that started with FSD Beta 11.3.3. For whatever reason, if FSD ends up in the right lane on 7th St W in downtown St Paul, it will NOT try to move over to the left lane (which means it fails to follow the defined route to get onto I-94W). I went back and checked the OSM data for this section of road and it was 100% correct so I’m a bit perplexed as to why this behavior is occurring. I also confirmed that GPS was perfectly operational throughout the 3 torture test attempts so that could be ruled out. I am posting this to bring visibility to this issue and will be escalating to the Autopilot team in hopes they can resolve this behavior in the next minor release of v11. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Gym Test Loop (Zero Disengagements In The Rain)This video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of March 31st, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.4 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to Timberwolf CrossFit (St. Paul, MN). A few minutes into the drive we witness a HUGE lightning strike that landed just to our left! This was my first zero disengagement drive with FSD Beta 11.3.4 which to me was impressive considering how heavy the rain was coming down at times during the drive. Stale map data continues to result in unnecessary speed adjustment & nav-related interventions. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.4 – Minnesota First ImpressionsThis video contains footage from a route I came up with this afternoon that borrows the first portion from my work test loop. Aside from a few disengagements due to a couple of potholes, my initial impressions of FSD Beta 11.3.4 are positive:– One positive change I’ve noticed so far is that the ego car is slowing sooner for changing traffic lights & slowing traffic, especially when going faster than 50mph. It’s as if the vision system is more confident with what it sees from further away.– Smoother creep behavior (coasting instead of brake / throttle inputs) for cars waiting to, or in the process of, turning out of our lane– More overall confidence than v11.3.3 Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.3 – St. Paul StruggleThis video contains footage recorded on the evening of March 29th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.3 driving me from my gym in St. Paul to my house in NE Minneapolis. Right off the bat we encountered several issues, many of which required throttle interventions to overcome. The more time I spend with v11.3.3, the more I feel that it is noticeably less confident than 11.3.1 (or 11.3.2) and it shows here. Regressions I have noticed w/ v11.3.3 include:– More hesitation across the board (especially at intersections and previously problem-free locations)– Jerky behavior during turns has returned– Consistent confusion w/ path planning Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.2 – North Metro To Home (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the evening of March 21st, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.2 driving me from my parents’ house (Coon Rapids, MN) to my home (NE Minneapolis). Minus 1 lane selection issue (which FSD recovers from) & 1 throttle intervention (when turning onto Main St in Coon Rapids), this was pretty close to being a flawless drive for FSD Beta! Great work Tesla Autopilot team! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.3 – Tommy Like Wingy (Zero Disengagements) This is a brief video of a drive I did over the weekend w/ FSD Beta v11.3.3, starting from my parents’ house (North Metro) and ending in Anoka, MN at my favorite wing spot, Serums Good Time Emporium! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.3 – North Metro Test Loop (Zero Disengagements) This video contains footage recorded on March 25th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.3 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to my parents’ house (Coon Rapids, MN). With construction season almost upon us, I started this route with a little twist since 37th Ave NE will soon be unavailable in order to capture a baseline. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.3 – Donut Torture TestThis video contains footage from a route I came up with this morning on the way to getting some delicious donuts from my favorite bakery, Heights Bakery (drool). Aside from one disengagement (that was my mistake), the drive went pretty well. I encountered no new issues or regressions and confidence especially as it pertains to vehicle control remains consistent with what I’ve experienced with 11.3.1 & 11.3.2. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.3 – Minnesota First DriveEarly this morning both of my Model 3s received the Tesla OS 2022.45.12 update which included FSD Beta v11.3.3. This video contains footage from my first shake down drive around NE Minneapolis & Columbia Heights. So far, I have not uncovered any new bugs / show stoppers / regressions so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that 11.3.3 is indeed the build that goes wide! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.2 – North Metro Test LoopThis video contains footage recorded on March 21st, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.2 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to my parents’ house (Coon Rapids, MN). Minus the continued struggles with lane selection at the intersection of 37th Ave NE & Central Ave NE this continues to be a fairly easy route for FSD Beta especially with v11.3.2. Once the aforementioned issue is fixed I could see v11 being easily able to handle this drive with 0 disengagements from me! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.2 – St. Paul to HomeThis video contains footage recorded on the evening of March 20th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.2 driving me from my gym in St. Paul to my house in NE Minneapolis. After 8+ drives with FSD Beta 11.3.2, I have yet to notice any major regressions (from 11.3.1) and the behavior overall seems very similar to what I experienced with 11.3.1. The intersection of 7th Street W and 5th Street W in Downtown St. Paul continues to cause issues for FSD Beta so I’ll continue to report this behavior to the Tesla Autopilot team. Towards the end of the video, we also encountered another disengagement where FSD was unable to navigate around a parked car after yielding for oncoming traffic. Regardless of these disengagements, I continue to feel that Tesla has made several significant steps forward with FSD Beta 11.3.x and am hopeful these remaining issues will get addressed in future 11.x builds. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.2 – Roundabout Torture TestThis video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of March 20th, 2023 where I put FSD Beta 11.3.2 through a roundabout torture test that we previously tried w/ 10.69.25.2. The pair of roundabouts are located adjacent to a busy Walmart in Roseville, MN and I decided to test during the late afternoon (on a Monday) to ensure other vehicle & VRU traffic would be present. During the torture test, I traverse the pair of roundabouts a total of 7 times, 4 times from west to east and 3 times east to west. I considered the each test attempt a pass if FSD was able to traverse the pair of roundabouts without any driver intervention. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.2 – St Paul BrunchThis video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of March 19th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.2 driving me through St. Paul to an awesome brunch joint called Colossal! While a few minor issues were encountered along the way, FSD did a great job recovering from them except for one where the system appeared to experience a fault & require me to take over. For the most part FSD Beta v11.3.2 continues to build on the increased confidence many testers (including myself) experienced with v11.3.1 which is a really positive sign. Stay tuned for more FSD Beta 11.3.2 content over the next few days! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.2 – Minnesota First ImpressionsEarly this morning both of my Model 3s received the Tesla OS 2022.45.11 update which included FSD Beta v11.3.2. This video contains footage from my first drive from NE Minneapolis to Northwest St. Paul, MN. Throughout this drive I give my initial impressions of 11.3.2 and compare them to what I previously experienced with 11.3.1. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – Best Drive Yet! (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the morning of March 14th, 2023 where FSD Beta 11.3.1 drives me from Columbia Heights, MN all the way to my company’s office in Edina, MN. I would argue that this is the best drive I’ve experienced with FSD Beta to date, especially considering it: – Successfully navigated an unprotected right turn – Completed two consecutive lane changes within a narrow window – Executing a tough U-turn What’s even more impressive is that it did all of this within the first five minutes of the drive! On top of improved handling of city streets, handling of highways has significantly improved, far surpassing what we were used to with Navigate on Autopilot. These improvement will undoubtedly lead to a much more enjoyable experience for FSD Beta users going forward. I am pumped for v11.3.2 and look forward to more testers getting the opportunity to test v11 for themselves real soon! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – West Metro Torture Test (Zero Disengagements)This video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of March 14th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.1 driving me through a tough route that connects Edina, MN to Eden Prairie, MN. During this drive, FSD Beta v11.3.1 showcases its enhanced ability to quickly recover from lane selection confusion as well as displaying a newfound confidence in handling roundabouts. In over two years of testing FSD Beta, I have never seen it tackle roundabouts as confidently as it did in this video. The fact that I never had to apply a throttle input even once highlights the significant improvement in roundabout handling with v11. Kudos to the Tesla Autopilot team for their hard work with this excellent build! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – Columbia Heights Lane Selection TestThis video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of March 13th, 2023 where I put FSD Beta 11.3.1 through a lane selection test that we previously tried w/ 10.69.25.2. 10.69.25.2 recently passed this test by selecting the correct lane after turning onto Central Ave NE however I had a suspicion it was due to the tall snow banks. In this test the snow banks are still there however they are much smaller and so I feel like this is a much more telling test than the one I did with 10.69.25.2. If you are interested in seeing how FSD beta used to select the wrong lane, see this video which was recorded using 10.69.3: https://youtu.be/XxHTPdereIs. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – Drive Home From BrunchThis video contains footage recorded on the afternoon of March 12th, 2023, of FSD Beta 11.3.1 driving me home from my favorite brunch spot in South Minneapolis. Despite the light snowfall, this was yet another zero disengagement drive, with only one throttle intervention. Along the way, I point out several other long-standing issues that have been addressed by FSD Beta 11.3.1! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – Edina Drive (Snow)This video contains footage recorded on the morning of March 9th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.1 driving me around Edina during the start of a snow storm. While a few throttle inputs were required along the way, this is my first zero disengagement drive with FDS Beta 11.3.1. Considering how heavy the snow was coming down, I think the results here are pretty impressive. Also, before somebody says the maneuver at 1:56 is illegal, see here: https://www.startribune.com/fixit-driver-is-it-stop-or-go-at-a-yellow-light/16517431/?refresh=true. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – Work Test LoopThis video contains footage recorded on the morning of March 9th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.1 driving me from my home (NE Minneapolis) to my company’s office (Edina, MN). While my experience w/ v11.3.1 has been mostly positive so far, I continue to experience disengagements when traversing the intersection of 37th Ave NE & Central Ave NE. This has been a regression I first noticed with 10.69.25.x and something that was completely fixed as of 10.69.3. I previously did this same drive with 10.69.25.2 (see here: https://youtu.be/jg45yO-PG7Y) so you can can directly compare legacy Navigate on Autopilot to the new single stack FSD Beta solution for highway. Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – St. Paul to HomeThis video contains footage recorded on the evening of March 8th, 2023 of FSD Beta 11.3.1 driving me from my gym in St. Paul to my house in NE Minneapolis. Along the way we experience a few regressions and plenty of long awaited improvements! I did a similar drive through downtown St. Paul so you can get an idea of how far things have come with FSD Beta v11.3.1 (see here: https://youtu.be/8DcQKnhhMfU). Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – Shakopee to WorkThis drive includes footage from my second drive with FSD Beta v11.3.1 where it takes me from Shakopee, MN to my company’s office in Edina, MN. Aside from one disengagement due to a manual lane change taking too long, the highway portions continue to demonstrate v11’s strengths especially when it comes to making smooth inputs (brake, throttle, or steering). The city portions continue to be very similar to 10.69.25.2 where I find FSD Beta still being too hesitant, especially at clear intersections. Overall, I feel v11 is a big step forward for Tesla with the move to single stack and am excited to see what they have in store for the subsequent minor releases! Tesla – FSD Beta 11.3.1 – First Drive In Minnesota!Early this morning both of my Model 3s received the Tesla OS 2022.45.10 update which included FSD Beta v11.3.1. This video contains footage from my first drive from NE Minneapolis to Shakopee, MN which equates to about 28 miles along with plenty of highway driving. As a reference, please feel free to compare this drive against one I did of the same route last year with FSD Beta 10.10.2: https://youtu.be/37_H6ZsJtUk
